Inverted Yarn Oracles’ Tarot Yarn Club… today, i dye this yarn club for the first time. How exciting?! A new yarn club always holds hopes and dreams & I am so excited to have a partner in crime with this yarn club. Brittany, of Machete Shoppe, is the other half of the Yarn Oracles. 🧶 For this video, I am taking you through some of the steps to achieve this month’s colorway, nine of cups, inverted. This is one of two colorways that will be in this sock set (and each one, hereafter). You’ll have to wait for Brittany to flash her sock yarns. These yarns are already fully accounted for but watch out for the new moon & out instagram accounts will be abuzz with our energies, as we pick the next card. Each card is a reflection for me. I love to sit on the idea of the card chosen for a couple days before i read the inverted iteration. At that point, I allow my inner workings to fire off while I explore the second version of each card. It may not seem like much but it is a very simple and lovely therapy & moment to remind me that I am a human. Join me while I dye yarn, layer after layer. Variegated, speckled & doted over…. Sheena

I woke up well before anyone else in the house & i took that as a sign to quietly record my morning. Today I dyed Fire Light. I dyed multiple batches of my plush sock, dk & cozy yarn bases in this colorway & it will be listed in the shop in the next few days. This colorway takes multiple steps, first applying stocks that I had mixed to create the variegated base and then a second time into the dye pots, where I focus on speckling the yarns. This colorway ends up being a bit time extensive but it is totally worth every second. You get a very quickly and simple version of the colorway, here, whereas multiple layers of dye & speckles are applied to every batch. A big part of my morning went towards organizing all of my in stock (or on hold) yarns that I have in my shop. Each tupperware holds different yarn bases and I really enjoyed the process of just organizing the colorways, as I had made a bit of a mess when shipping orders yesterday. I did get a moment, earlier, to sit and knit a few rows on my Briochevron Wrap by Stephen West of West Knits. This is a cozy wrap that I am making out of leftover yarn from other projects and such a sweet & simple potato chip-y (for me) knit. Something about the sound of knitting needles… Listen in & you can hear my parakeet singing his hellos! Sheena What a beautiful day to dye yarn! The sun has been so warm and the temperature has been rising above freezing! So very exciting!! We still have a couple feet of snow on the ground and it will take quite a while before we can see the grass or begin to garden outside, though I have inside plans. Today I took the opportunity to spend time on some one of a kind snow dyed yarn. Tonals & variegated yarn were in and out of the pots today. Watch through to see all of the beautiful colors & yarn dyeing techniques that I used! Tell me which colorway is your favorite in the comments!! I hope you enjoy this dose of nature and snow. It will be melted before we know it so I want to savor it while I can. Is there still snow where you live? Sheena 3/15/2022 We took a drive over to Black River Harbor, yesterday. The drive was beautiful from the snow that is still sticking around. Winter just refuses to go away. No matter the conditions of the trail, we still headed out to enjoy the views. There was a lot of bypassing super icy spots & the kids would purposely slip and slide on any ice they could find. The forest still appears to be hibernating. The river & waterfall, on the other hand, were not. All of the recent rain and snow melt has made the rivers rage. The amount of energy coming off of Rainbow Falls was breathtaking. The spray was hitting my face while I filmed and it felt so lovely. I would definitely recommend a hike that culminates in a frozen waterfall! Always & forever. Every year, the waterfalls freeze into a new sculpture & they are always evolving. Lake Superior is melting!! We found patches of sand, driftwood & a few pretty stones. I look forward to further melting & the possibilities for rockhounding! Sheena |
